Do you really want a blast of musk straight to the dome? Well, this might be for you.
Closest analogue here for me is patchouli. It’s a slightly warm, very traditional style of musk. Think food co-op rather than AXE body spray. This is based on musk candy, which is apparently something that people in Australia willingly ate at some point. We may judge their foreign ways, but apparently you make do when you can’t get actual candy flavors. Good for them. It’s mostly just that musk, although I do pick up something like a vanilla sort of hiding in that aggressive patchouli. I also catch the occasional flash of some generic citrus or melon fruitiness, but it’s like 99% face-punching musk.
For a very distinct, probably polarizing flavor this vapes pretty well? There’s actually some body here, which is the usual achilles heel of strong floral vapes. This isn’t dry and thin, and really the entire experience is distressingly palatable. Really, and this isn’t trolling, if you just want a musk vape you should try this at 3 or 4% and let it sit for a couple of weeks. The steeping doesn’t really cause any fade fo the flavor, but it does seem to mellow out a bit and allow some more vanilla and sweetness to come out.
Mixing with this is a completely different animal. It will blow right past most almost anything you pair it up with. If you want any chance of a musk component instead of a full on religious experience, aim low. .5% is probably the upper bound, but you could start closer to .25% to stay on the (relatively) safe side. Some extra vanilla will make that musk a bit more palatable. I dig FLV Smooth Vanilla for that, but it is more expensive than precious spices so maybe not. FA vanilla classic, INW Shisha Vanilla, or whatever stronger vanilla will work as well. Also, try some citrus. Citrus tends to help with floral notes, and it’ll give a bit more dimension.
But yes, it’s musk. If you don’t want to vape musk, maybe don’t buy a musk flavor.
Setup: Recoil w/ flavor barrel, Dual 12 wrap 24g 3.5mm SS316 @.32 ohms. 60w power, 450F temp limit. Full Cotton Wicks.
Testing: Vape Train Sweet Musk, 1,4, and 8%, 60/40 VG/PG base, Steeped 3+ Months.
Profile: Strong patchouli musk with a relatively full body and some light vanilla and fruity citrus or melon accents.
Off-Flavors: I mean, it’s a musk flavor. Nothing that shouldn’t be there.
Throat Hit: Light. Not as bad as a strong floral could be, for sure.
Percentage Recommendation: In mixes, keep this low. It tends to dominate. I wouldn’t go above .5% but probably start lower. As a solo flavor, where you just want a bunch of musk, 3-4%.
